Referrals- What makes a great REALTOR® Referral?

When a client is buying or selling in an area I don’t serve, I hand pick a REALTOR® from my Sacramento REALTOR® Referrals network. My client’s interests are a top priority and making sure the REALTOR® I connect them with meets my criteria is a must. Representing my clients is something I take very seriously, and I seek referral agents that will do the same.

What I am looking for in a REALTOR® I feel confident in referring my clients to:

  1. Time. Will they make time for my clients? Real Estate moves fast and often the most sought-after homes are not on the market long. A REALTOR® should be available or have a backup showing agent so clients have the best chance of landing that new dream home as soon as they hit the market.
  2. Experience. How many homes have they sold, and do they mostly work with buyers or sellers? A primary listing agent may or may not be taking new buyer clients.  I also like to see that they are an active full-time agent with recent sales in the past 12 months.
  3. Professionalism. Do they respond to my emails and texts in a professional manner? How are they sharing information to clients? Do they have access to the latest realtor software?
  4. Communication.   I look for agents that respond in a timely and thoughtful manner.
  5. Testimonials. Can they provide references, and do they have an excellent rating on the top websites?
  6. Marketing. If they will be helping my client sell their property, what kind of marketing do they implement and how quickly are homes selling in that area? Are the homes they list typically receiving an over-the asking price or are they selling for less than asking? How the agent compares to other REALTORs® in their market is a consideration.
